Mike Van Gelder (Interior Supervisor for Marine Spill Response Corporation) emphasizes the need to add the following verbiage in the Incident Action Plan (IAP) to prevent “boom jumping” by contractors working on the spill:
“Small boats working on the Laramie River and Grayrocks Reservoir must avoid jumping deployed booms, as this practice could damage the boom and boat propeller, as well as contribute to significant oil loss. Boats must also operate at no-wake speed.”
