VIP TOUR

Press Secretary Tristan Justice notifies HFSM that U.S. Representative Harriet Hageman, Wyoming’s At-Large Member of Congress, has formally requested a tour of both the spill site and Incident Command Post (ICP).  She expects a short briefing, guided tour, and opportunity to ask questions. Her estimated arrival time is 2:30 pm on Thursday afternoon. Congresswoman Hageman’s traveling entourage includes one staffer and one security representative.  This is a Drill!

Expected Player Actions:

Unified Command: Acknowledge the request and determine who will greet and brief the Congresswoman. Ensure messaging is consistent and aligned with approved talking points.

Safety: Review safety requirements for the spill-site visit. Ensure appropriate PPE is available and that the tour route avoids active hazards.

Public Information: Prepare key messages, talking points, and potential media posture. Determine whether a Joint Information Center (JIC) representative should accompany the tour.

Liaison: Coordinate with the Press Secretary and Congressional staff. Confirm arrival logistics, escort requirements, and access protocols.

Operations: Identify a safe, controlled tour path at the spill site. Ensure field personnel are aware of the VIP visit and maintain operational continuity.

Planning: Prepare a concise situational briefing (current status, priorities, constraints). Update the Incident Action Plan (IAP) if the visit affects operational timing or resource allocation.

Security: Prepare for controlled access to the Incident Command Post (ICP). Ensure visitor check‑in procedures are followed.

Notes/Remarks:

The Congresswoman’s visit is not intended as an oversight hearing. Rather, this is a situational awareness tour.

She has 30 to 45 minutes available for the visit.

She is particularly interested in community impacts, environmental/wildlife impacts, and the protection of water resources.

She is not requesting to speak with the media, unless the Public Information Officer (PIO) initiates that option.
